Cleaning the chimneys

The Leaves of the Ash and Elder are gone
The garden furniture put away
The Jackdaws have fledged, abandoning their summer nest
and the ownership of the chimneys returns to us.
It’s a bit of battle with the new bendy rods
but eventually the brush sweeps all the way up
and pops out of the stack.
The fires can be lit!
As the temperature drops, the nights draw in
and we move indoors
The joy of firelight beckons.
