Take me I’m yours

The poem today

A tawny owl roosts in a nearby garden.
Swifts flash and glimmer
as they chase each other across the sky,
Clematis and Veronica bloom,
Honeysuckle and Elderflower bud.
Hawkbit stems stand tall
amid grasses already going to seed.
And the branches of the Ash tree,
outstretched in wild abandon,
Each tip raised up toward the sun in adulation,
Say, ‘Take me I’m yours’.

The full Scorpio supermoon is nearly upon us.
Its watery nature has me in it’s grasp,
Tumbling me over in its waves.
I try and remember to stay soft
and roll with it,
with only varying degrees of success.
The wind blows, the page turns.
a lawnmower starts up.

Moths flutter, the cuckoo calls.
The air is awash with the bird’s song.
And as the sun sets and the full moon rises,
A journey brings a rabbit,
And takes me to a circle of trees,
recently burnt
where I receive a gift from the moon
of a dragon’s pearl brooch.

A Tawny Owl in Vicky’s Den Garden

Song of the day – Squeeze

I’ve come across the desert
To greet you with a smile
My camel looks so tired
It’s hardly worth my while
To tell you of my travels
Across the golden east
I see your preparations
Invite me first to the feast

Take me I’m yours
Because dreams are made of this
Forever there’ll be
A heaven in your kiss

Amusing belly dancers
Distract me from my wine
Across Tibetan mountains
Are memories of mine
I’ve stood some ghostly moments
With natives in the hills
Recorded here on paper
My chills and thrills and spills

Take me I’m yours
Because dreams are made of this
Forever there’ll be
A heaven in your kiss

It’s really been some welcome
You never seem to change
A grape to tempt your leisure
Romantic gestures strange
My eagle flies tomorrow
It’s a game I treasure dear
To seek the helpless future
My love at last I’m here

Take me I’m yours
Because dreams are made of this
Forever there’ll be
A heaven in your kiss
